We are constantly striving to find other sources of revenue that will help us maintain, replace or upgrade the equipment required to protect the citizens of Bear Creek and the surrounding communities. We have done this by asking our communities support by conducting fundraisers such as turkey shoots, portrait sales, barbecues, chicken dinners, tool sales, and auctions. These all take time away from the training that is required so that we can mitigate those emergencies that we are called to. Our members have always answered the call but it is the community that has backed us each and every time with their generous support. The members of the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department can not begin to thank you. We have also looked at other funding options from federal, state, and private organizations that have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
As our community continues to grow and our emergency call volume continues to rise we will be looking for ways to continue to provide the highest quality of service to our community. Although we are volunteer, we will soon have to look at the possibility of paying by call or even hiring part time firefighters because there are not enough volunteers especially during the day when most are at work. We continue to provide the highest quality fire and emergency services because of the close network that has developed in the Onslow County Fire Service.
It is the promise of the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department to continue to look at new technology and ideas to evaluate them and bring them to our community. We are known for not being afraid of change and we are not afraid to change what we have been doing when it doesn’t work. We owe it to our members and the community to ensure that the level of fire protection and emergency services are the best that they can be. We will always look to see how we can add to the services we provide our community that will save lives and protect property.
We have developed this web site to show to our community who we are and what we are capable of doing. I hope that this web site will also be used to help us communicate with the community and the community to communicate with us. It will also show the world about Bear Creek, the place we call HOME.
If we can be of help please feel free to contact us and if this profession looks like something you are interested in and you call Bear Creek your HOME, come down and see us.
Sincerely,
Glenn Zurek
